Helena Housing works with St Helens College and provides Modern Apprenticeship programmes to support young people to work towards nationally recognised qualifications.
What is available?
Our Modern Apprentices are aged between 16 to 24 years of age and on an annual basis we have opportunities from among the following trades, Electrical, Plumbing, Bricklaying, Joinery, Painting & Decorating and tiling with our Building Services Department based at Sutton Fold, St Helens. From time to time apprenticeships are offered in other departments in the Company.
The trade Apprenticeships range from 3 - 4 years and annual pay increases are given as the apprentice progresses through their course. On completion of an apprenticeship a permanent role as a member of Building Services staff will be offered providing performance and attendance targets are achieved.

The benefits of a Modern Apprenticeship with Helena Housing is the supported self-learning whilst gaining hands-on training and development and building up your knowledge and skills whilst earning money at the same time.
We provide ongoing learning and development opportunities at College and whilst at work. A Manager and Mentor is also allocated to each Apprentice to mange the work they undertake and support any work or personal issues that may arise.
We also provide tools and corporate uniform, including boots on commencement.
When should I apply?
We usually begin our recruitment process each year in June by advertising in the local newspapers, with Connexions and via schools.press. We then hold a recruitment event which involves individual interviews. Successful candidates join us in September.
