Community fund...
The Community Fund aims to provide grants to help stimulate and support community activities which benefit Helena Housing tenants and the wider communities within St Helens .
Applications for grants will be considered from Tenants’ and Residents’ Associations and other community based groups for projects and activities that work for the good of local people. Grants paid will normally be up to a maximum of £500.
Examples of such projects could include:
- A community event, fete, sports day or fun day.
- Purchasing equipment for a community club, sports team or arts project.
- A Christmas Party for children or older people.
- Sponsorship of a ‘best kept garden’ competition.
- Sponsorship of a clean up campaign for a local ‘grot spot’.
- A new local community business which requires a ‘start up’ grant.
Helena Housing will also welcome applications to provide part funding for appropriate projects where other sources of funding are available to meet the full cost of the project (i.e. we will match fund your application, if necessary, up to a maximum of £500).
If you think your project may be eligible for funding, you need to apply using an application form (see below). Alternatively you can contact the Resident Involvement Team on 01744 675678 and they will send you a form out in the post. If you need any advice when filling out the form contact the team and they will do their best to help you.

Applications are judged four times a year at our area committee meetings. A panel of tenant representatives and Helena staff make the final decisions. The assessment panel reserves the right to ask for more details about the project, visit sites and interview applicants where appropriate.
All applicants will be informed in writing if the application has been successful or not, following the meeting of the Tenant’s panel. If your application has been unsuccessful we will tell you the reason why.
